Features & Capabilities

iTablaPro is the first electronic tabla and tanpura that actually sounds like the real thing, ideal for Indian classical musicians and students. It combines six instruments (Tabla, two 5-string Tanpuras, Sur-Peti (Shruti-Box), Swar Mandal, and Manjira) under one intuitive pitch control, using high-quality samples for a truly authentic riyaz session.

Other highlights include 47 taals with tempo options, integrated auto-tuner, metronome, background play, and a full mixer for independent volume and panning. Presets can be saved and exported/imported via email or iTunes File Sharing, with an optional recording add-on. AudioBus support enables live routing to other apps, and the Sur tabla option provides a deeper bass tone for vocal-based performances.

User Reviews

iTablaPro is widely praised for its authentic tabla sound and versatile practice tools, including tanpura, swar mandal, and a broad range of taals and ragas, making it valuable for singers and dancers. It has strong long-term support, but users report recurring issues with raag switching in Swar Mandal, flaky AirPlay/HomePod connectivity, and limited Keharwa 4-beat variations. Overall, a powerful practice/teaching tool with notable room for bug fixes and feature expansion.
Pros
  • Authentic, realistic tabla sound that remains a core strength across presets and taals.
  • Comprehensive practice tool with tunable two tanpuras, swar mandal, manjira, and a wide range of taals and ragas.
  • Great for practice, teaching, and performance; useful for singers, Kathak practice, and other Indian classical contexts.
  • Strong customization and versatility with adjustable laya/tempo and easy switching between modes.
  • Responsive developer support and long-term reliability with regular updates.
Cons
  • Swar Mandal sometimes does not switch to the selected raag or presets, causing mismatch during practice.
  • Connectivity issues with Apple HomePod and AirPods, especially after iOS updates, leading to unreliable playback.
  • Keharwa 4-beat variations are limited; users request more Keharwa options and variations.

Great app used for years but recently realized that the Swar Mandal is not playing as per the preset Raagas.

I just got this app. It’s an incredible app. I sing in F4 scale and I wonder why that’s is missing from the app. I can make do with E4 scale. Maybe in the next update you can add F4 scale. But it is exciting to have such authentic tabla sound. Thank you!

I would love the function to link iLehra and iTabla to play in sync 🙏🏽…Well done !! Great practice aid. Would be great to have more variations and the ability to accent sam. I'm sure improvments are coming ... Well worth the price.!!!
