User Reviews

Show of Hands offers strong polling and open discussion features, with praise for its polls and engagement tools. However, reviewers repeatedly flag a toxic, partisan atmosphere, moderation issues, and sign-in/technical problems. The app shines for polling and conversation when moderation is not an obstacle, but its credibility and reliability are undermined by biases, safety concerns, and inconsistent support.
Pros
  • Free speech and open discussion with civil dialogue
  • Robust polling features with instant results and demographic/geographic breakdowns
  • Easy-to-use polls and engaging features (e.g., monthly introduction poll)
  • Ability to ignore disruptive users and curate discussions
  • Perceived fairness with minimal algorithmic filtering or shadow banning
Cons
  • Perceived political bias and toxic, hateful discourse with a leaning toward right-wing content
  • Moderation inconsistencies and uneven enforcement of rules
  • Safety concerns and presence of hateful content; not considered safe for kids
  • Login/account issues and weak support (sign-in problems, password resets, account creation)
  • Poll results not representative due to base skew / partisan audience

I am a longtime user and fan of this app… There are a few too many snowflakes on here who get bent out of shape from hearing opinions that differ from their own. With that said, there are many fantastic people who can have civil and meaningful dialogue about world issues. I highly recommend this app and give it five stars.

So many right wing, white supremacists, hateful and ignorant people. It’s surprising Apple allows it to be listed on the Apple Store. Not safe for kids, of which there are many on the app. There doesn’t appear to be any moderation, at all.

After reading the last submitted review I decided to write one and give credit where credit is due. The developer created a forum via the app where members could check the pulse of participants on all sorts of topics and issues. There is limites censorship, but for the most part polls are posted and responded to freely. The accusation of inappropriate sexual content is false and yes the poll platform is not the echo chamber the woke want it to be. The real issue is that the misinformation trolls post incendiary comments constantly and the factual content answers are not welcomed. Kudos and thank you to the developer and a hardy shame on you to the last reviewer!
