User Reviews

Daylight is loved for its simple, reliable interface that shows civil, nautical, and astronomical twilight times along with daylight length, and is handy for outdoor planning and photography. It’s lightweight with clear day/night visuals and supports viewing past/future days. Common drawbacks include lack of manual location setting, date display issues (auto-update/wrong year), and occasional post-update stability or UI regression problems. Some users also note location drift on newer iOS versions. Overall, it remains a trusted, concise daylight tool despite bugs.
Pros
  • Simple, reliable and uncluttered; it just works.
  • Shows civil, nautical, and astronomical twilight times along with daylight length.
  • Very useful for planning outdoor activities and photography.
  • Lightweight and memory-efficient; fast to use.
  • Long-running app with clear day/night visualization and support for viewing past/future days.
Cons
  • Cannot manually set or select a location; app often uses the current location and may show times for the wrong place, especially after updates.
  • Date handling issues: date may not auto-update and can display an incorrect year, affecting related data like moon phases.
  • Stability and UI regressions after updates: crashes, white screens, or unreadable/misaligned UI (font-size issues, etc.).
  • Occasional location drift or behavior changes on newer iOS versions, leading to incorrect displayed times.

I’ve had this app for over 14 years. It just works. It’s simple. No useless AI. It delivers. It shows you civil, nautical, and astronomical times. M. Casgrain, merci beaucoup pour une application très formidable.

A must have app if you are trying to plan outdoor activities around dawn or dusk

Since I upgraded to IOS 16, it assumes I am in Chicago whether I turn location services on for the app or not. Otherwise this would be a five star app. I would even settle for manually setting the location, but this app has been around for a long time and that option never materialized.
