I paid for this app while there is free version because their customer service told me I can use the paid version offline. After a update, all in a sudden it can’t be offline anymore. What a shady operation.

Might be okay for studying English, but not very useful for studying Mandarin. Wish I could have tried it out first before making the purchase. Pleco is MUCH better in every way.
