User Reviews
Pros
- Clean, intuitive interface that flows smoothly and lets you focus on writing.
- Strong Final Draft (FD8) integration, including reliable import/export with FD8.
- Excellent portability—you can write an entire screenplay on your iPhone.
- Easy export and sharing options, including .fdx export and Dropbox compatibility.
- Solid core writing tools for screenplay work (scenes, dialogue, characters, reordering).
Cons
- Outdated and under-supported on iOS: no retina/universal compatibility and no iPad version; updates have lagged.
- Crashes and stability issues, with occasional data loss concerns.
- Export/import limitations: text export formatting is off; .fdx viewing on iPhone requires another app; reliance on external services for some features.
- Missing features: no notes or page counts; limited organization (scene headings tabs) and no landscape mode.
- Online/cloud reliability problems and service outages affect backups/imports.

Always nice to see more screenwriting apps available for iPad that are at least striving to be as feature capable as the ones that have been available on Mac/Windows forever. The iPad is a perfect device for writing on the go and yet has for a decade plus been lacking truly great screenwriting apps. A few are getting close in 2026 and Screenplay could be one of those. But I am struggling hard with how the carriage works. Having to use cmd+ enter feels extremely unintuitive. Ditto seeing a line of dialogue initially placed too far below the character heading in the element “window”, only to pop back into the right place after you do the whole cmd+enter thing. If there’s any consideration to creating an option in the settings to turn all that off and just provide a standard cursor with typical tab and enter behavior, I would greatly welcome it! I appreciate the thought process of trying to do something new and different, and will allow that if you’re typing on the screen this approach may work well. But more options for us Magic Keyboard warriors would be an excellent addition.

It is complicated and I have not been able to write anything on it. I hate that I paid a yearly subscription, believing I can learn from tutorials.
