Pros
- Saves time and increases subway efficiency by guiding you to the exact exit, car, and stairs to reach your destination fastest.
- Longstanding, trusted app with years of use and strong value for money.
- Detailed station exit/entrance information and neighborhood maps all in one view.
- Works offline (no internet needed), making it reliable underground.

Cons
- Data and maps can be outdated in places (example: Q line data and some neighborhood maps).
- Some stations/exits have no data or don’t work in the app.

- Occasional bugs or station-specific issues that disrupt use.
- Past concerns about the app's ongoing development or maintenance, though updates have arrived.

For some reason, I thought that this app no longer existed, but I’m thrilled to see that it’s still being updated! Because I use this a few few times a day on the subway. It’s invaluable for a New Yorker. I would pay for this. Never let it go away!

I’m a lifelong NYC resident and Exit Strategy is probably my most used and valued iPhone app of all. At subway stops with just one exit, it can save you time by identifying which subway car to be in so you’re closest to the exit when you reach that station. But where the app really shines is in the many stations that have two or more exits leading you to different places. Choosing the wrong one can waste a lot of time walking to where you actually need to be. Transferring between subway lines is also so much easier with Exit Strategy to guide where you need to be, which is not always readily apparent at the station. Even though I’ve lived in NYC all my life, his app has still saved me so much time over the years by giving me the info I need to be maximally efficient in my use of the subways. Plus the interface is completely intuitive and speedy to use. Also, if you’re coming into town as a tourist with the intention of riding the subways, I can’t recommend it any more highly. It will save you from many conversations asking for directions to take the best way out of a subway station.
