Features & Capabilities

Knit Row Counter is a compact productivity tool for knitters to count rows while you knit. It keeps track of progress without interrupting your craft.

Gesture support makes counting effortless: on iPhone, a single tap increments by 1, swipes left or right decrement by 1, and a long-press resets to zero. On Apple Watch, a long-press also resets the counter. Lightweight and fast for quick projects.

User Reviews

A simple, free, ad-free row counter that’s easy to use with tap-to-count and long-press-to-clear, handy for knitting on iPhone (and to some extent Apple Watch). However, it lacks a quick reset, is prone to accidental count changes and drift, favors landscape orientation, and has unreliable watch integration. Overall it’s great for a basic counter but UX and cross-device polish could be improved.
Pros
  • Simple, no-frills row counter
  • Free and ad-free
  • Easy to use: tap to advance, long-press to clear
  • Helpful for knitting and easy to read from a distance
  • Apple Watch capability is a plus, though not consistently implemented
Cons
  • No quick reset/start-over option; resetting is tedious or unavailable
  • Counts can be changed accidentally and there’s no lock to prevent it
  • Counts can drift or become inaccurate after leaving the app
  • Only landscape orientation is supported, which frustrates portrait-oriented users
  • Watch integration is unreliable or incomplete (no reliable complication)

Like the simplicity. I lost my analog row counter and wasn't looking for anything fancier. No ads.

I used to love this row counter and it worked perfectly. Something has changed and it does not keep an accurate count anymore. As soon as I finish a row and get out of the app, not only would it add the row I had just added, but it would add one extra . I found I had to always count my “v” stitches when I came back to my work before I began and it was always off by one or two ,so it was pretty useless after that.

I used to love this app, full 5 stars. Unfortunately, the Watch complication doesn’t seem to function properly anymore — you now have to tap “row counter” on your watch face and THEN tap to increase the row count each time. This makes the watch complication just as annoying as the phone app.. having to unlock the phone every single round just to update the counter. So, the app does what it says it does, but is less useful for my needs due to these deficiencies. Overall, I think the dev(s) are doing a great job, just not updating it for the current operating systems. Considering it’s a free app, I can’t complain much — but I’d be willing to pay for it, if it had all the old functionality back.
