Features & Capabilities

Glasses turns your iPhone into a portable digital magnifier with a built‑in flashlight, making it easy to read tiny print, labels, and menus even in dim lighting. It supports up to 12x magnification and offers handy one‑hand gestures for quick zoom and pan, so you can keep going without fumbling with controls.

In addition to magnification, the front camera can act as a cosmetic mirror. The app archives your most recent eight images for quick access, and you can save captures permanently to your camera roll. Glasses is the compact, always‑with‑you accessibility tool you’ll want on hand.

User Reviews

Overall, users praise Glasses as an effective, portable magnifier that makes reading small print easier without always needing reading glasses. It’s especially valued for in-store use, labeling, menus, and professional tasks, and the built-in light, camera, and mirror add versatility. However, compatibility and stability issues on some devices—especially newer iPhone models and iOS—limit reliability. Users also report confusion about where zoomed photos are stored and how to manage them. Despite these drawbacks, many consider it a lifesaver and a top magnification tool worth using daily.
Pros
  • Magnification helps aging eyes read small print clearly.
  • Reduces the need for traditional reading glasses; convenient for daily tasks (stores, menus, labels).
  • Built-in light, mirror, and camera add versatility; ability to take and save magnified photos.
  • Useful in professional contexts (dermatology checks, nursing homes) and fieldwork; easy to use.
  • Helpful when glasses are inconvenient (mask fogging, forgetting glasses); lets you read in stores, restaurants, etc.
Cons
  • Compatibility/updates needed for newer iPhone models; blur on newer devices.
  • On iOS, instability: app may load slowly, crash, or auto-take pictures.
  • Unclear where zoomed photos are saved or how to delete them.
  • Occasional reliability issues across devices.

I usually take a photo and zoom in but somehow this provides better images. I thought of this as a something to stand in for reading glasses but the first thing I tried it on was a few feet away. I’m sure I’ll do more with it but I’m reviewing this app in response to a request that should have nudged me later.

I had this app on my iPhone 11 and it was great to have. Now I have an iPhone 17 and the glasses app is blurry. Is there an updates app for the new phones?
