(ONE-TIME purchase, no further in-app purchases or continuing fees / tricks.)

Don’t just memorize the odds, understand them ... This app teaches you a general method for estimating the odds for just about any Texas Hold’em scenario in your head in real time.

*** Pay once and enjoy forever *** No in-app purchases/fees. Continual improvement for many years.

Note:

(1) This is a challenging app. You need to be pretty good at doing basic math operations in your head. For example, what’s the value of:

16% * 20%

We’ve added a “Math” help button to show you how to calculate this in your head. One way is, 20% means one-fifth. One-fifth of 16% is (16% / 5), which is a little more than 3%. 3.2% to be exact. Or, convert to decimals, multiply, then convert back to %age’s.

(2) This app uses specific hand situations, and some people don’t see the value in this because in real life play we don’t know our opponents’ cards. There’s still value in specific hand situations, because they’re the building blocks that we can use to put together and estimate the odds for more complex hand range situations. For example every good player should know the odds for specific hand situations like AJ vs. QQ pre-flop, or FlushDraw vs. TopPair on the flop. Our other apps e.g. PokerCruncher handle both specific hands and hand ranges.

Poker trainers, odds tables, etc. are useful tools but do they help you learn why the odds are what they are or are you just memorizing specific situations? And you can’t use these tools or odds/equity calculators in the middle of a live hand (would you really want to?; could be a “fish” tell :)). This app takes a new and different approach to poker odds - understanding instead of memorizing, so you can handle any situation that comes your way.

Our odds estimation method is a pretty simple 3-step procedure. First you count your outs and estimate your odds of improving (using for example the "Rule of 4&2"; this app shows you how). Then you consider your opponent’s counter-outs. Then you put the two together to come up with a good odds estimate.

We’ve provided about 20 common and important pre-flop and post-flop scenarios for you to practice the method on. This app will take you through the 3 steps for each practice scenario, one screen per step, and will make sure that you’re on track towards a good odds estimate each step of the way, correcting you if needed. We’ve provided info/help buttons for each sub-step.

You might be thinking, how can you cover a game as complex as Texas Hold’em in 20 scenarios? Well, we agree, you can’t! But this app is about learning a general method not many specific situations, and we picked these 20 scenarios to cover a good cross-section of common and important pre-flop and post-flop situations. If you understand how to calculate the odds for say one generic TopPair vs TopPairTopKicker scenario or one representative Pair vs LowerPair pre-flop scenario, you’ll be able to apply your knowledge to other similar situations easily.

Now, we’re not saying that you’re going to master this in 5 or 10 minutes. You’re going to have to practice the method more than a few times, think about the outs and counter-outs, and do simple math operations in your head - basic +, -, *, /; let’s not let our math teachers down :). We hope you feel that acquiring this odds skill and knowledge is more than worth the learning/practice time.

Odds Teacher can be very confusing as a stand alone app. Getting the bundle is a must imho to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. UPDATE: Went back & tried to give it another shot w/response, but still found it clunky. Maybe instead of just providing ONLY one scenario hand example, offer the ability to change hands to make it more engaging, show what the outs are and what hands they would make up, calculate the outs & visually show the math with equity vs how it could be applied vs various pot odds instead of just an FAQ style page (which could basically sum everything up for the current design), and keep score or history like a game, for the example to reinforce the learning otherwise just knowing the well known rules of 4&2 is already enough. Also, learning from feedback instead of being overly defensive over the years may have led to a much better app, especially since there is a common trend among several reviews imho. Best of luck. Update: Sincerely appreciate dev response to concerns and ideas. Updated rating and initial comments accordingly. Even using odds quizzer, I’m often left scratching my head wondering what cards are being considered in the apps calculation when my estimate is graded wrong. Suggestion there might be to include the outs when the user answers 48%, but the correct answer is 64% and the grade is F, for example. Maybe I’m missing another info button like the Tutorial below that explains it? Maybe it would help to have a section under help that simply explains how best to use the app to get started, like look at the hand, then look for similar pre-flop matchups in tutorial to get the odds, etc. That’s when it started “clicking” for me a little. Thanks. Update: I sincerely appreciate the diligent correspondence from the developer to help me understand the scope of the apps that make up the bundle of three. At this point, the best suggestion I might offer might be to utilize our correspondence to create some form of better instructions to show how the three apps link together and how a new user, unfamiliar with their intended scope, should/would connect the dots from cradle to grave to save some time from others who might be willing to take the time to go down the rabbit hole and really try to learn this stuff. Again, thanks for sticking with me and best wishes. :-)

Way too complex it's like some geek wrote this app quickly and paid zero attention to ease of use and simplification. Looks like an app made before apps existed, horrible UI! I don't recommend it at all

I play a weekly game that’s always dealer’s choice - Omaha, Stud, Cross Cross, Pash the Trash - basically anything but Hold ‘Em. I’ve gotten good but to get to the next level I needed practice calculating odds. This is the only app I’ve found that both teaches you and gives you practice calculating odds using outs. I’m sure this functionality is buried somewhere in many other Hold Em apps but this is perfect for learning how to calculate odds, implied equity, pot equity, etc. I would take points off for pretty bad UI (why a slider???, yellow font?) and it doesn’t baby you as it teaches the math, but it’s the only thing out there that will give me the constant practice on the train, waiting for elevator, etc to try to start beating the shark at my local table. THANK YOU!!
