User Reviews

Users praise its ease of use for preschoolers, effective handwriting guidance, engaging visuals, and strong accessibility for diverse learners, including multilingual support. Common drawbacks include left-handed bias, iOS compatibility issues, the falling-box/portal mechanic being confusing for some, no phonetic sounds, and lack of customization options (names, custom words) and handwriting guides like baseline. Overall, the app is valuable for early writing and literacy with room for UI tweaks and feature requests.
Pros
  • Easy for preschoolers to use; intuitive interface.
  • Strong handwriting guidance with stroke order and feedback; aids fine motor skills.
  • Engaging visuals, falling blocks, and lively narration that hold kids' attention.
  • Accessible to diverse learners, including kids with special needs and bilingual/ESL contexts.
  • Supports early literacy development (letter-sound awareness and word-building).
Cons
  • Biased toward right-handed users, disadvantaging left-handed children.
  • Compatibility/bug issues on newer iOS versions (e.g., noticeable on iOS 6).
  • Falling boxes/portal can be confusing or distracting for younger kids.
  • Lacks phonetic sounds; only letter names are spoken.
  • No option to customize words or add a student’s name; lacks basic handwriting guides like baseline/midline.

For the past 5 years this app continues to be the best in its class. My daughter has special needs and visual impairments, and every other app like this gets no traction at all. Bravo devs!!!

I have been waiting to buy this for 5 years. I use an app tracker to alert me when the price changes or the app is update. I was shocked when I saw this get updated after so many years. I can confirm this works great on iOS 10. Very bare bones writing app with letters and numbers, but it is great for my son who is struggling with his dexterity. He uses a stylus to practice his handwriting. Some updates to the graphics or different learning modes would be appreciated.
