Features & Capabilities

Pop Art transforms live video from built-in cameras, photo library, or AI-generated images into striking Pop Art posters using four themes: Warhol, HOPE, Posterize, and Negged Out! with automatic background removal and frame layouts up to 3x3. Colors per frame draw from 13 presets inspired by famous artists, allowing per-frame variation.

The Warhol filter analyzes facial features to color regions, overlays a screen layer with multiple blend modes, and supports various Photo FX options. HOPE provides editable text for Shepard Fairey-style posters; Posterize adds interpolation and histogram equalization. Use the AI Image Generator to craft inputs for any filter. Future themes Pollock, Lichtenstein, and Mondrian are in development and will be released as they become available. When you're happy with a creation, capture it to the gallery and share.

User Reviews

Users generally describe Pop Art as a fun, color-rich tool for quick, shareable art. The recurring benefits cited are its playful color-tint options and its suitability for Instagram-like art. However, the most mentioned issues are stability problems (crashing/hanging), a very limited feature set for a paid app (only a few frames), unclear usability, and limited face recognition (pets not recognized). Some users report fixes after updates, but overall experience is inconsistent. Improvements in stability, more frames, better recognition, and a clearer UI would improve satisfaction.
Pros
  • Fun and creative tool for producing pop-art style images.
  • Color tinting and customization options for experimenting with different color schemes.
  • Useful for quick, social-friendly art (e.g., Instagram).
  • Some users view it as good value for the paid price when it works.
Cons
  • Crashes and instability during use (exits or hangs, sometimes losing work).
  • Very limited features for a paid app (few frames/outputs; not worth the cost).
  • Not intuitive UI / difficult to figure out; guides are unhelpful.
  • Recognition limitations (pets are not recognized; it often focuses on human faces).
  • Unreliable color picker and occasional camera issues within the app.

I’ve had this app for a while and hadn’t used it in years. I wanted to do some Andy Warhol pics of a friend and a couple of pets. So I paid the $3.99 and every time I upload the photo and try to hit done it just goes out of the app. Nothing. This happens over and over and over. I would like my money refunded or figure out this bug. There’s a lot of apps out there like this, but I thought this was an oldie, but goodie.
