User Reviews

Overall, reviewers like the Westpac app’s clean design, speed for basic tasks, and overseas usability, and appreciate helpful support and strong card features. However, recurrent complaints focus on login reliability (numbers-only usernames, paste and password-manager issues), startup crashes and performance slowdowns, and changes that removed convenient functions or caused branding confusion. Some users also cite security frustrations (weak login model, desire for two-factor authentication) and missing features like Apple Pay. The app has potential but needs stability and consistent authentication and features.
Pros
  • Clean, modern UI/UX that feels world-class and easy to navigate
  • Fast, lightweight app that is quick for basic banking tasks
  • Strong overseas usability for travelers and expatriates
  • Responsive, helpful customer support (e.g., chat with Beau, overseas assistance)
  • Rich card management with handy quick actions and clear home/cards overview
Cons
  • Sign-in reliability issues: username restrictions (numbers-only), inability to paste, password-manager incompatibility, and calls for two-factor authentication
  • Frequent crashes and startup instability, especially on iOS 16
  • Slow performance and loading delays during transfers and within the in-app web browser
  • Removal of convenient features and confusing branding (new version removed popular quick-pay flow; AU vs NZ naming)
  • Security concerns and feature gaps (limited login security, desire for Apple Pay support)

They silently removed the careless withdrawels, not just a retrograde step for no conceivable reason but annoyingly left me cashless at an event where I knew mobile reception would be too poor to use a card

It’s great for doing basic banking, but whenever I ask the virtual assistant for something, it gives me a link, I tap it, and it just reloads the home screen.
