User Reviews

Users praise the app for easy navigation, highlighting, and a reliable, private hub for essential Big Book content and daily reflection. The top issues center on missing content from newer editions, data loss with reinstalls or device changes, accuracy concerns in forewords/traditions, and indexing/search limitations that hinder page location. Updates addressing edition coverage, data integrity, and content accuracy would address the main user frustrations while preserving the app’s strengths for long-term sobriety use.
Pros
  • Easy to use and navigate; well-designed interface that provides quick access to daily Big Book components
  • Highlights and day counter/sobriety calculator are key, useful features
  • Contains the essential Big Book content in one app, suitable for meetings and study
  • Privacy-friendly design (does not require email or personal info)
  • Long-term reliability and consistency for years of use and support during sobriety journey
Cons
  • Content is not updated to include newer editions (missing 4th edition stories, Preface/Forewords, and specific prayers)
  • Data loss or need to reinstall leading to lost notes and the need to repurchase on new devices; searchability can be broken after re-download
  • Content accuracy issues (typos in Forewords, and wording mistakes in Traditions)
  • Index/search limitations (no page numbers shown in the index; difficult to locate exact pages)
  • Device/compatibility update gaps (issues with newer devices like iPhone X/updated aspect ratios; occasional missing features until updates are released)

I’ve had this app since 2009, the update yesterday disabled my beloved search feature. It will pull up the search, but kicks me off the app when I go to the page. Bummer!!!! And yes I tried the restore button, deleted and reinstalled the app (losing all my bookmarks). Dang!
