Features & Capabilities

Harmonica was featured as one of the iTunes Top 10 Paid Music Apps of 2008. In 2018, it’s back and better than ever before. Harmonica features a genuinely-sampled 10-hole diatonic harmonica. Both single notes and chords are playable, as are “blow”, “draw”, and “bend” notes. Harmonica includes all 12 keys—it’s like having 12 harmonicas in your pocket!

Harmonica couldn’t be simpler to use. Simply touch your lips to the Harmonica and play away. You don’t even need to blow! If you’d prefer not to put your device in your mouth, Harmonica works with your fingers too. Whether you use it to make your friends laugh, impress that special someone, or to annoy your co-workers, Harmonica is indispensable.

User Reviews

Users widely praise Harmonica for being beginner-friendly, with a large song library and regular updates that keep it fun and crowd-pleasing. Common drawbacks focus on licensing limitations (public-domain content) and pacing: the songs are not easily slowed, and the fast tempo can hinder early learning. Some reviewers also want added features like auto replay or the ability to add personal songs. Overall, it’s a solid learning tool with room for content and pacing improvements.
Pros
  • Beginner-friendly and easy to learn
  • Large selection of songs
  • Regular updates and ongoing improvements
  • Entertaining and crowd-pleasing; great for impromptu performances
  • Feels like a real harmonica and is easy to use
Cons
  • Catalog limited to public-domain/folk and gospel songs due to copyright restrictions
  • Tempo cannot be slowed; songs play at high speed, making practice difficult
  • Pace can be too fast for beginners, leading to frustration during longer sessions

Warning: This app only has public domain songs, that DON’T sound good on harmonica. Buyer beware

This app is one of the original harmonica apps. It has always worked beautifully. They regularly update and improve it. I have had great fun and learn so much with it. Not to mention, it freaks people I meet out, when I give them my IPhone music demo, when they think I’m blowing into my iPhone and playing harmonica lol 😆
