User Reviews

Overall, reviewers regard Wikipanion as a fast, easy way to access Wikipedia and a strong reading-focused alternative to the official app. It supports browsing multiple wikis in one place and has a simple, familiar interface, with several users noting it’s long-running and reliable. However, frequent concerns emerge: overall performance is slow and laggy; the app lacks a dark mode and appears under-maintained, with limited cross-device syncing. Post-update bugs include text selection and bookmarking issues and added Wikis problems. A few users also call content bias into question.
Pros
  • Fast, easy to use and generally reliable access to Wikipedia.
  • Strong reading-focused experience; viewed as a good alternative to the official Wikipedia app for reading.
  • Allows browsing multiple wikis within a single app.
  • Long-running, trusted app with a loyal user base.
  • Simple, straightforward interface that many reviewers prefer.
Cons
  • Significant performance issues: slow searches, long load times, and occasional freezes.
  • Lack of dark mode; no system-wide dark mode and it’s a frequently requested feature.
  • Not updated or poorly maintained; aging app with limited cross-device syncing.
  • Post-update bugs affecting usability (text selection/copy, bookmarking, adding Wikis, and search options).
  • Some reviewers perceive content bias or slant affecting trust.

Home/random page actions either don't work or crash the app. This is the primary differentiating feature from the official Wikipedia app.

Extremely slow. Cannot handle how to display charts at all. Constantly begging for money. Extremely biased. Use Grokipedia if you want more objectivity and facts.

I’ve had an iPhone since they first came out and have had this app since the app store’s beginning. This will always be my most used app. It’s Wikipedia at your fingertips, always works, and does what it says it’s going to do.
