User Reviews

Users praise Lifesum for easy, effective daily calorie tracking, especially before AI changes. Yet many reviews converge on reliability problems: frequent glitches and crashes, unreliable food data, heavy subscription upsell, disruptive AI updates, and issues with partial servings. Long-time users note the experience has degraded after recent changes. Overall sentiment is mixed-to-negative, with reliability and UX concerns outweighing the earlier convenience.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a clean, intuitive interface.
  • Helpful for daily calorie tracking and weight loss goals.
  • Long-standing user base with positive experiences before AI updates.
  • Free basic tracking options are available.
Cons
  • Frequent glitches, crashes, freezes, and unresponsiveness; data can disappear or logging can fail.
  • Inaccurate or incomplete food database; hard to find foods; incorrect calories when scanning.
  • Aggressive subscription popups and upsell; renew prompts; refund issues.
  • AI features/deprioritized UX; updates degrade usability and remove or undermine useful features (e.g., meal sharing).
  • Partial-serving input issues (decimal/half servings not supported) and time-of-day logging mismatches.

I’m not sure why but a lot of the nutrient trackers are gone. It says how much sodium I’ve consumed, but they removed what the goal amount is for me to compare how I’m doing. The macronutrients was the feature they touted that got me to sign up for a paid subscription and now they’re whittling away that info. Not sure why. I like a lot of the features but wish they’d stop removing things and bring back the features we signed up for.

App has a lot of potential when the air tracking works, seems to be down or not working very often. A little frustrating for a nap just supposed to help you track your calories. Customer service needs improvement too, reached out for support, got generic Chatbot responses.
