User Reviews

Overall sentiment is largely negative. Recurring issues include steep seller fees, weak seller protection, and poor customer service. Disputes are often described as biased toward buyers, with long payout holds and refund/shipping-label billing problems. The app is accused of being buggy and intrusive (Live feature, notifications, missing back button) and reports of scams or fraud are common. A few positives mention a very large catalog, easy discovery for buyers, and the platform’s long-standing presence. However, reliability and trust have deteriorated in this version.
Pros
  • Large catalog and ability to find items not available elsewhere.
  • Ease of listing and getting listings discovered by buyers.
  • Longstanding, familiar marketplace trusted by many longtime users.
Cons
  • Steep seller fees and unfavorable fee structure.
  • Weak seller protection and poor customer service; disputes often favor buyers and are hard to resolve.
  • Payout holds and refund/shipping-label billing problems (e.g., 30-day hold on high-ticket sales, double billing).
  • Clunky, buggy app UX with intrusive features (forced Live, notification issues, missing back button).
  • Perceived fraud risk and ineffective controls against scams.

terrible company. customer always comes first no matter what and sellers are an afterthought. money hungry and greedy company. i don’t know what happened in the past few years to make eBay turn this terrible route. If you are a seller, expect eBay to never take your side and let you get barraged by tantrums and obscenities by customers who think it’s Amazon marketplace over and over again. They also never escalate a situation in your favor even when they say they have. TERRIBLE. LAZY. GREEDY. and they take almost 20% of an order when they feel like it!!! insane!!

Been buying and selling on ebay for quite some time. Not as long as when it launched back in the day, but long enough to see the platform change its format. Overall, both buying and selling is fairly easy. Bidding has always been tough though, "buying it now" is always easier. Selling though has become challenging as the listing and promotion fees basically kill and chance of making a profit. Plus, if you dont promote no one will buy from you. It seems as though the more you make frequent listings the more attention your account gets. The less you list, your account will fade into the background. No matter how much I promote or share links, no one's buying or viewing. So as of now, I have a ton of items sitting around because the account is getting attention. Gonna have to donate soon if the items dont sell.
