Features & Capabilities

Control Panel for Twitter is a Safari extension that gives you control over your Twitter experience by prioritizing the chronological Following timeline and letting you hide or tailor the algorithmic For You feed. It’s configurable through the extension options so you can customize how you see your timeline.

Along with UI improvements like muting quote tweets, hiding promoted content and prompts, and a full-width timeline, it also includes privacy-focused tweaks to reduce distractions and improve performance while using Twitter.

User Reviews

Control Panel for Twitter excels at removing the For You tab and delivering a focused, cleaner Twitter experience in Safari, with active development and good support. However, it’s limited to Safari and can be brittle as Twitter changes; setup can be fiddly, and a few users report it not working or failing to deliver consistent results. Overall, strong value for Safari users seeking distraction-free Twitter, with caveats on reliability and scope.
Pros
  • Hides the For You tab, reducing algorithmic feed distractions
  • Restores a calmer, more readable Twitter experience (feels like earlier Twitter)
  • Excellent Safari extension with active updates and responsive support
  • Clean, distraction-free UI that improves focus and readability
  • Helps block/mute unwanted content or spam, reducing harassment
Cons
  • Only works in Safari; not usable with the Twitter app or as a PWA/add-to-home
  • Reliability can be hit-or-miss due to Twitter interface updates (For You reappears, glitches)
  • Setup can be fiddly or require tuning to load properly
  • Some users report it not changing Twitter's UI or not working despite installation
  • Occasional price concerns or value questions when it doesn't meet expectations

Sucks that you can only use it on Safari but easily worth the tradeoff.

I basically just downloaded this and I can already feel my brain healing. No more stupid rage-baiting discourse of the day, or weird MAGA ads (despite me constantly blocking and clicking NOT INTERESTED). I was hesitant because I never really spend money on any apps, but given that I knew I wasn't going to delete twitter, nor get my impulse control under wraps, this felt like a reasonable spend that absolutely turned out to be worth it. FYI still completely functional as of May 2026. I made twitter a bookmark, created a shortcut to that bookmark, added the shortcut to home, and changed the shortcut icon to Twitters old icon, so its actually exactly the same. I really dont lose out on any functionality using the browser version (in fact, my app was getting so buggy that this is an improvement). Huge props to the developers for actually making me write a review 😂

Hi great work, I was wondering if you could make it so the app icon conforms to dark app icons so it’s not blue when apps are set to dark
