Hoshi (星, Japanese for star) is a free and competitive Star Battle game with daily challenges. Star Battle, also known as 'Two Not Touch', is regularly published in the New York Times logic puzzle section. If you enjoy tricky puzzles and brain-teasing games and seek a new challenge, give Hoshi a try. The rules are simple: on a grid, each row, column, and region must contain exactly 2 stars, and stars may not touch, not even diagonally. Hoshi includes Star Battles with 1–5 stars, with more-star modes coming soon.

Hoshi offers daily puzzles, time tracking and leaderboards to compete against others, a weekly challenge for 3-star-plus players, and five difficulties from easy to diabolical. It also includes packs with hand-picked puzzles for beginners, a solving guide, and a profile that tracks your stats and progress. Puzzles can have long load times, with waits of 30 seconds or more before puzzles appear.

I really enjoyed the game until I finished a puzzle and got an ad that said “your account has been hacked!”. I can’t believe a company would allow that type of predatory scam ads on their app. I instantly deleted the app and came here to give the review.
