Swipe Voca: TOPIK & IELTS

Swipe Voca is a swipe flashcard app for two kinds of learners: people learning Korean for TOPIK or for the K-dramas and K-pop they love, and people studying English for IELTS or TOEFL. Swipe right if you know a word, left if you don't, and the words you miss keep coming back until they stick.

Learning Korean? TOPIK 1 to 6 comes as six graded wordbooks, 3,143 words, next to K-Drama & K-Pop words, with meanings in 21 languages to choose from. One thing to know before you install: Swipe Voca assumes you can already read Hangul. It does not teach the alphabet, handwriting, grammar or conversation. It teaches words.

Studying English? IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC words come with short English synonyms or a translation in 13 other languages. JLPT and HSK are here too: 97 wordbooks, 53,340 words, 13 languages, all with English meanings.

■ Swipe right if you know it, left if you don't

Swipe right and the word moves to Memorized and stops coming back. Swipe left and it goes to Difficult with a star; Swipe Voca brings the most-starred words back first. Sort by stars to attack the toughest ones first.

■ Reviews timed to how memory fades

Swipe Voca spaces your reviews at 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days, bringing each word back just as you're about to lose it. Forget one, and it comes back sooner.

■ Check yourself with a quiz

Swipe to say whether a word and a meaning match, or pick the meaning from 4 choices. Miss one and you see the correct answer right away.

■ Example sentences and study stats

Cards in all 13 Korean wordbooks carry a short example sentence on the back. Study stats show today's, all-time and last-7-day counts, and what you've memorized in each wordbook.

■ A reason to come back tomorrow

Your study streak and today's goal sit at the top of the screen, and the goal is yours to set: 10, 20, 30, 50 or 100 words. Hit 30 words and you can watch one ad to study ad-free for an hour. Your study reminder arrives in your time zone, with the number of words due for review.

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show today's word, your streak and how many reviews are due at a glance, and a tap opens the app (Lock Screen needs iOS 16 or later).
