User Reviews

TTMIK Stories is praised for rich, engaging content across levels, strong listening practice with native narration, and solid vocabulary tools (in-context lookups, transcripts and word lists). It also offers useful customization like speeds and fonts. However, users frequently report audio playback/voice quality issues, a suboptimal vocab-review design lacking spaced repetition, concerns about the subscription price, readability challenges due to small font, and sporadic bugs in playback and progress tracking.
Pros
  • Engaging content across beginner to advanced levels, with stories and articles that support reading comprehension.
  • Excellent listening practice with native narration and the ability to replay stories and create listening playlists.
  • Strong vocabulary support: in-context vocabulary within sentences, word lookups, and the ability to build and review word lists.
  • Accessible customization: adjustable speeds and font options to improve readability.
  • Transcripts with highlighted words and audio-text alignment that aid learning and shadowing.
Cons
  • Audio playback issues and variable voice quality, including stories stopping early and some narrations sounding robotic or broken.
  • Vocabulary quiz/review design is not effective for long-term retention (no spaced repetition, limited interaction, and spellings not required).
  • Subscription price is perceived as expensive relative to value.
  • Print size is too small and there is no easy way to enlarge the font.
  • Occasional bugs and UX glitches affecting playback, quizzes, day logging, and navigation.

This is really great, but people are tired of looking at their tiny screens on their phone. not sure if there’s an iPad app version, I couldn’t find one. Please make an iPad version of the app!

I’m a big fan of this app, I use it daily. Each improvement has been really helpful. Definitely trending upwards! One feature I would love would be a background player. It’d be really helpful to be able to walk around and listen to the stories over and over again. Keep up the good work!

The app has a playback feature to listen to Korean stories, but it only plays the first sentence or two and then jumps to the next story. This would be a great feature, but has been a persistent bug.
