Features & Capabilities

DungeonSquad is the new action roguelike from GameCoaster (creators of Dungeon Maker and Dungeon Defense). An endless stream of heroes invades the Abyss; you must infiltrate a light-dominated planet to reclaim your home. Use fallen heroes’ equipment to recruit monsters and fight alongside you, as you work to defeat the Army of Light and restore the Abyss’s power.

Key features include 10 elite monsters and over 100 unique skills, the Abyss gaining strength as you rebuild, and a roguelike structure filled with randomized choices and opportunities. By earning the blessings of the Dark Gods, you can fuse powers with your monsters to crush colossal groups of enemies.

User Reviews

DungeonSquad is praised for its stunning art, fast-paced upgrade-driven gameplay, and offline play, with good value for an indie title. However, recurring issues include crashes/save-data loss, weak onboarding with sparse tutorials, bugs, and monetization concerns (microtransactions/paywalls). A subset of players also dislikes the over-sexualized visuals. Overall, the core game is solid and engaging, but stability, clarity, and monetization remain the main sticking points.
Pros
  • Stunning art and pixel design that appeals to fans of the series.
  • Engaging gameplay with many upgrades and active combat; strong replayability.
  • Offline play works smoothly, allowing play without an internet connection.
  • Solid value for money for an indie title; updates and content additions are appreciated.
  • Positive comparisons to Dungeon Maker and overall polish across updates.
Cons
  • Crashes and save-data loss issues (crashes on startup/title screen; progress lost after crashes).
  • Poor onboarding with few tutorials or in-game encyclopedia; mechanics are unclear to new players.
  • Bugs and glitches persist (real-time save problems, icon rendering issues).
  • Monetization concerns: reliance on microtransactions and perceived paywalls for features; upfront cost can feel high.
  • Over-sexualized visuals that turn some potential buyers away.

I really like your game. I have been playing it for a long time. I hope to see the fourth season. I will support it.

Edit: played some more. Difficulty of later levels is much more balanced. Early on, you basically never see the bad guys because they die before they even get onto the screen.
