I found that I could only get it to work when the R12 was on battery power. And while using an older iPad with lightening, I had to use the camera connection device (it didn’t want to work with a lightening to USB C cable). It actually is helpful once you get it to connect. I did not find that I had to supply power to the lightening camera connector.
