What you want to record is up to you. Wine tastings, workout sets, your child's milestones, the places you traveled, the meds you took, when you last watered the plants. FormNote is a note app where you decide what fields to record.

■ Two steps

Line up the fields you want and save them as a "Form"
Tap the form and write your note

Once a form exists, writing a note is just tapping and typing. The more often you record the same way, the less work it becomes.

■ Start from 100+ ready-made forms You don't have to build one from scratch. Pick one and you have a form. Add or remove fields afterwards however you like. They work offline too.

■ Eight field types Text / Long text / Number / Date / Rating (stars) / Checkbox / Radio / Photo

Numbers open a number pad, dates open a calendar, ratings show stars. Each field gives you the right input, so notes are quick to write on a phone.

■ Every note in one place Look back at your notes across all forms in one timeline. Filter by form or search by text to land on the one note you were looking for. When the next note is nearly the same as the last, duplicate it and edit only what changed.

■ Export and import Export your notes as CSV, edit them in a spreadsheet and import them back. Forms themselves can be exported and imported as CSV too, so you can reuse the same form on another device or hand it to someone else. You can also save a single note as a PDF — with a preview before you export it.

Photos are not included in CSV.

■ Moving to a new phone Save your forms, notes, photos and display settings into a single file, then restore it on the new device and carry on where you left off. It works between iPhone and Android, too.
