User Reviews

Pros: AI-driven journaling with a customizable AI personality, attractive visuals, auto-classification, privacy-forward framing, and AI record queries. Cons: reliability issues (crashes/server errors), data loss, onboarding/sign-in friction (Apple ID/Mac sync), privacy concerns over data access/collection changes, and UX/platform issues on macOS. Summary: Users see strong AI features and a beautiful journaling experience but face stability problems, onboarding hurdles, and privacy anxieties that limit adoption.
Pros
  • Customizable AI personality and AI-driven journaling interactions
  • Beautiful visuals/UI that enhance the journaling experience
  • Auto-classification/organization of entries
  • Privacy-forward framing and emphasis on data privacy by some users
  • Ability to query and get insights from your records with AI
Cons
  • Frequent reliability issues: crashes, outages, and server errors (e.g., 500)
  • Data loss: long entries disappearing or being wiped with no easy recovery
  • Onboarding/sign-in friction: Apple ID sign-in problems and Mac syncing/difficulty creating accounts
  • Privacy concerns about data access and changes in data collection (Identifiers and Usage)
  • UX/Platform issues: odd interaction design, macOS/iOS usability problems, and cross-platform polish gaps

I love Lifelight, but the companion is my favorite feature. When it reaches its limit, it feels like the app suddenly stops engaging with me. Even if full AI responses must be limited, I’d appreciate brief acknowledgments or a daily summary so the companion never feels like it has disappeared.

Was an early adapter. I’ve had the app for about a year and a half. I’ve watched it get better and better but I will say I’ve also watched it integrate apple sign in which I’m not sure why is needed and the “Data Collected” section change from NO DATA COLLECTED to “Identifiers and Usage”. Not sure what’s going on but hopefully this remains private. The ai is Awesome. Navigation has a learning curve and I wish the AI options had avatars. But the customization of the app is awesome as well
