User Reviews

Damus is praised as a leading Nostr client with a clean UI, reliable performance, and active development, including media uploads and Apple Music integration. However, users report stability problems (crashes), relay connectivity and posting reliability issues, and missing undo capabilities for likes/reposts. Some worry about Apple App Store crypto policy risk affecting features like Zaps, plus OS compatibility gaps on iOS 17 and Mac OS. Overall, it’s seen as the best mobile Nostr client with strong potential, but with notable reliability and platform caveats.
Pros
  • Great UI and a snappy, intuitive user experience.
  • Reliable performance and a solid Nostr client with a feature-rich experience.
  • Media uploads and Apple Music integration add to usability.
  • Active, ongoing development with frequent improvements.
  • Emphasizes content ownership and direct tipping, with censorship resistance.
Cons
  • Stability issues: frequent random freezes and crashes.
  • Relay connectivity and posting reliability can be poor (relays won’t connect; posts may fail with no feedback).
  • Crypto features like Zaps face App Store policy risk and potential removal by Apple.
  • Inability to undo likes/reposts and limited editing of interactions.
  • Cross-platform compatibility gaps: iOS 17 support issues and some Mac OS features don’t work.
Recent reviews
I want to like it but it has been performing extremely poorly on my iPhone 13 over the last few months, scrolling is really choppy and the app is almost unusable with the UI freezing up. It’s also taking up a huge amount of storage space, close to 9 GB and clearing cache removed only a few MBs. Disappointing because it has my favorite UI among nostr apps and notifications also works the best.

If it wasn’t for the fact that it’ll randomly freeze for no reason and need a force close it would be a good app
