User Reviews

Users consistently report reliability problems with OneControl Auto: Bluetooth connections to the brake controller frequently drop or fail, CarPlay integration is missing, and location permissions lead to usability and privacy concerns. The app also bombards users with permissions prompts and has seen degraded support after updates or corporate changes, resulting in widespread frustration. A small subset still reports it works in some cases, but overall sentiment is highly negative due to stability issues.
Pros
  • Some users report the app can control the brake controller and works flawlessly when connected.
  • There are clear signals of ongoing user interest in improving the app (e.g., requests for features like dark mode) indicating UX potential.
Cons
  • Frequent Bluetooth connectivity failures and disconnections between the app and the brake controller.
  • No CarPlay integration or seamless CarPlay support, requiring manual interaction which can violate hands-free rules.
  • Mandatory location permissions and persistent location data requests, with many users unable to grant or viewing it as intrusive.
  • Repeated permission prompts and warnings without an easy way to suppress them (no 'don’t show again' option).
  • Poor support and instability following platform updates/acquisition, leading to broken functionality and frustrated customers.
Recent reviews
I bought two of these to use in a rental business. First year. They worked great when they change the app nothing but problems. Try not at least a dozen rigs and it loses the Bluetooth connection very dangerous and not safe. And creates a liability as a rental company. Now they're just expensive paperweights. Yet they keep selling them.

Find it very disappointing that with more and more laws for hands free phone use that this app does not work with CarPlay.

So I have to interact with the app to use the brake button, which is illegal in my state. (Hands free phones only). Sorry officer I was trying to control my trailer, not play on my phone!! Integrated into CarPlay it wouldn’t be an issue. Even better would be to integrate with CarPlay and my starting sheel controls!!! No brainer and simple mappings… and why make me sign in to use my product!!! User experience not user monetization!!!
