Ridwell

My frustration with Ridwell is that you must opt-in regularly to get the pickup you are automatically billed for, but get charged even when you don’t opt-in. Inevitably you will forget to opt in via the app, and will be charged for a service you aren’t getting. You should either not be charged for when you do not opt in, or pickups should be opt out.

When first hearing about Ridwell I was so excited to participate and help divert plastic waste from landfills. For the first few months, the service was awesome and I had no problems with my pick up people even though the building I live in that requires the a call-for-entry system at the front door. Within the last 2 months however, I’ve had a repeated problem where the pick up person does not call into the building or attempt to call in for entry at all. When I check my app for a “pick up status” there’s a message that the pick up person “could not enter” and I am charged for non existent service. On top of that I have then have to store this trash I’ve collected in my own apartment to wait for the next pickup which is 2 weeks away. Bad customer service and quite a scam for a company to not render their service but, collect fees anyways. Canceled my service and wouldn’t recommend.

I feel more educated and aware of what I was throwing away. Recycling clothes, clean but torn fabric, plastic film, plastic and metal caps, etc. is now a routine for me to do. Many thanks for this service to help our environment and educate people. Plus my trash is significantly reduced.
