I’ve been trying to read like three separate mangas on this app. It never saved my position even after I literally BOUGHT the chapters, now I have to buy them again? Why???? Does literally anyone else have to deal with this? I’m so tired of this

Like the reader itself is…fine, I’ve definitely run into bugs where it throws me to the end of the next chapter, unresponsive page turns, etc. It is a baffling app that doesn’t explain anything. I’m trying a free trial for what seems to be the only subscription level but it still presents content like it might be gated. I have no idea what the XP, little c (I assume some sort of “coin”) or the “up” mean and nothing explains any of it, but it still asks you to spend money on the mysterious currency.
Trying to explore titles naturally in a genre is weird, like I assume organization is done by some invisible popularity instead of alphabetical by title or author. That hurts natural exploration. Though the lack of variety in genre and titles also hurts when it looks like 90% of the fantasy genre is just the same recycled isekai tropes with very few titles that feel worth it. I also don’t understand why it is online only reading when every other reader for decades has let users download in some capacity.
Just a frustrating experience and I just started. Makes me sad that some manga are trapped behind this app.

Now, I have all of the official manga apps and I’ve been using the SJ app since sometime in the early 2010’s. I’m not a covid poser fan acting like I have experiences to compare it to, I ACTUALLY do.
All of my other apps, you either subscribe, or you pay per chapter. This app wants you to do BOTH. A subscription gets you completed, backlogged series. If you want to read anything new, you have to make micro transactions to buy items to redeem for chapters. So the $5 or whatever that I spent to subscribe was pointless, I couldn’t read any of the series that I came to this app for. If you’re reading this and thinking I’m nitpicking, think about it this way; do you have to buy new releases from Netflix or Hulu if you have a subscription? Nope. And you can’t bring Amazon into this conversation, because they don’t charge you for the stuff they actually own if you have Prime, you pay for media from their partners who sell on Amazon. Heck, as much as I hate Crunchyroll for all of their buyouts and monopolizing the anime industry, just to close down every company they buy and make it impossible to buy certain merchandise from anyone but them, I can at least say that they gave us free manga with our subscriptions.
So yeah, this app is a straight ripoff. For the last 2 years, i wait a week or two to finally get enough items to read a free chapter. If it weren’t for that one slight benefit, I’d have deleted this trash. Don’t pay, just use it for free. Giving these conmen money only validates their scummy practices.
