Vet Set Go, the first and only community dedicated to aspiring veterinarians, has created the Vet Volunteer app to alleviate the stress of finding shadowing and volunteer opportunities in your area. This app also keeps a daily record of the hospitals you’ve worked at, the hours you’ve put in, the animal species you’ve worked with and the experiences you have had — all in a convenient app.

The Vet Volunteer app keeps track of important information: You can easily track your daily hours, along with dates, the animals you worked with and notes on the specific experience you added.
Your volunteer information is stored conveniently on your phone. Hours are totaled and summarized by type of activity on one easy-to-access screen. Details of your experience and the record from any day you worked are easily accessible.

When you’re looking for a place to volunteer, the app can help: You can search for opportunities by location and the experience type. Once you find an experience you’re interested in, detailed information will appear including the hospital name, the location, photographs and the contact information. Reviews of others who have volunteered at your selected location will be available.

The Vet Volunteer app allows you to stay current and connected: A newsfeed shows new veterinary hospitals that have entered our network.
You will see updates on other volunteers and their volunteer experiences.
Updates on other events and opportunities at universities and veterinary hospitals are provided.

This app is useful, but I have one major complaint. Only adding hours by the day is not efficient, especially for those of us who have done 2000+ hours before downloading this app. The button to add hours into an entry also only goes by ones. This app has a lot of potential, but it is very elementary and those who are serious about going into vet med are better off using a spreadsheet.

Listen, I like the app, Its easier just put in my hours on the app than reopen my spreadsheet everytime I finish anything for pre-vet, but there is also so much that I dislike about it. It looks so low budget, like really low budget. The amount of time I accidentally clicked on viewing the locations when trying to edit my experience was insane. Talking about location, can be please get a way to edit them? That way people who make mistakes (talking from experience here, didn’t realize I put the wrong state) would be able to fix them? I also kinda wish the app would be more of a community, such as if everyone had a profile where everyone on the app can view their experience and badges instead of just having peoples names appear for a bit on the news section when they reach a milestone. I feel like leadership boards would also be fun, such as who did the most hours in vet experience, etc. I feel like this app has a lot of possibilities, but right now it just looks sad and annoying to use.
