User Reviews

Players praise Dead Detective for its charming, humorous point-and-click detective gameplay and clever 'deaductions' mechanic, plus a nostalgia-tinged mobile port with no ads and forgiving hints. The vibe and pacing suit quick play sessions. However, most common criticisms center on the game's short length, a deduction UI and final-scene trigger that aren't always intuitive, occasional bugs on older devices, and weaker animation/character depth. Overall, it's a delightful starter episode with strong mechanics, but players want more content and some UX polish.
Pros
  • Engaging point-and-click detective puzzles with the clever 'deaductions' mechanic that lets you draw conclusions from clues.
  • Humorous, charming, nostalgic vibe reminiscent of old Flash-era adventures; cute art style.
  • No ads and a solid mobile port; good value and easy to pick up for quick playthroughs.
  • Well-paced, short but satisfying episodes; great for about an hour of play.
  • Helpful hints and forgiving design (unlimited hints; auto-save; forgiving progression) that reduces frustration.
Cons
  • Too short; players want more episodes/longer content.
  • Deduction UI complexity and final-scene trigger not intuitive; puzzles can be hard to understand without hints.
  • Technical issues on older devices (stalling/hourglass, unplayable on iPad Air 2).
  • Animation/character depth lacking; flat writing and stiff animation.

A cute and fun game. It's short-takes about an hour to play through- but for a free game, you can't complain. The only part I had trouble with was the ending; there was no hint as to how to trigger the final scene, and I spent a lot of time tapping on things and revisiting locations (thinking I'd missed something) before I figured out that you have to double tap on a deduction in your notebook, and that triggers the final conversation with Mr. Minsk. Since you don't do this at any other point in the game, it was confusing. Altogether, though, it's a fun little game.

But sooooo short lol. It's the perfect opening chapter to a wonderful and much larger game a if only that game existed! If you like old school point & click adventures, this one is definitely for you.
