User Reviews

Reviews broadly praise the app for solid Nextcloud integration, a good UI, and useful URL import. However, recurring downsides include authentication issues with 2FA, app crashes when editing or opening recipes, and multiple enhancement requests (in-app create/import, improved search/links, notes/variations, formatting). Overall sentiment is positive about core functionality but with notable bug fixes and feature improvements needed for a more complete experience.
Pros
  • Reliable Nextcloud integration; multiple reviews say it works well with Nextcloud Cookbook.
  • Nice, user-friendly UI.
  • URL import feature is very useful and praised when it works.
  • Privacy-focused design and control over data on Nextcloud.
Cons
  • 2FA/authentication handling issues; login can fail and password/token handling is problematic.
  • Bugs when creating or opening recipes; runtime errors such as 'Cannot modify unmodifiable map' and 'OneByteString is not a subtype of type int'.
  • Missing in-app create/import functionality and several requested enhancements (tag/category search, clickable links in descriptions, notes/variations, formatting, sharing/import flow).

It claims it needs an app token if you use 2FA but they expect you to send that with your password, username and the url to them. There’s another cookbook app on here for Nextcloud and if you have 2FA it opens the browser in a modal window for you to actually use your OTP authentication app code. With an app token who cares if they even have the password it’s like knowing someone’s ssn when you already have a fake passport, license and 3-months of dated male at their address with your face on it. Sure there’s a reason tokens exist but to say you can’t support 2FA either means you don’t know what you’re doing or you’re trying to cover something you know is wrong but either way I wouldn’t trust your app to be secure even if you weren’t being malicious. It’s all probably sent plain text and stored that way too on a public read access bucket somewhere.

I can see recipes I've imported via the desktop app, but I can't import recipes or create new recipes inside this app, love the idea so I'll keep checking back, real game changer once it works!

Downloaded this today, but it doesn't see to be compatible with the nextcloud API in version 29.0.1.
