Learn Animals - Animal Sounds

Version 2.0 adds four games, 59 more animals, native iPad layouts and fifty badges to collect. Every animal's name and fact is now read out loud.

Every one of the 160 animals in Learn Animals says its own name out loud, and every one has a fact read aloud to go with it. 148 of them make a sound - tap one and hear it.

It is built to be shared. Pass it across the table, play it in the back of the car, read a fact out at bedtime and see who still remembers it in the morning. The whole family gets something from the same card: the sound, the name, the scientific name, a number that surprises.

Swipe through full-screen animals from thirteen worlds - Farm & Pets, Forest & Woodland, Oceans & Coasts, Rainforest, Polar, Minibeasts and more, then on into the Dinosaur Age and the Ice Age Giants. Tap an animal to hear it. Tap its name to hear the name. Turn the card over for the scientific name, weight, range, population, conservation status and a fact worth repeating.

FOUR GAMES, ONE COLLECTION

Guess the Sound - a call plays; pick the animal that made it. Memory Match - pairs in three modes: picture to picture, picture to name, picture to sound. One player, or two passing it between them. Mystery Animal - a blurred picture clears in stages, and the sooner you name it the more it scores. Animal CrossLink - trace the letters to spell an animal into a mini-crossword, with a picture clue whenever you want one.

Every animal you see, hear, name or read about joins your collection - in the games as well as on the cards, and whether the answer was right or wrong. Nobody finishes a round empty-handed. The Progress tab tracks animals seen, days explored and how far you have gone through each world, with fifty illustrated badges to earn along the way. Two of them are secret.

NO ACCOUNT, NO WI-FI, NOTHING TO SET UP

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into. Every animal, sound and narration is already on the device, so the whole collection works in aeroplane mode - on the plane, in the tent, at the far end of the garden. Progress is kept on the device as well: no profile, no cloud, no sync.

Light and dark themes. An optional animal fact once a day, generated on the device at a time you choose.

Four habitats, 56 animals and all four games are free. One payment - once, not a subscription - opens all thirteen worlds and all 160 animals, and removes the ads. If you bought Remove Ads in an earlier version it already unlocks everything: tap Restore Purchases.

STILL GROWING

Version 2.0 grew the collection to 160 animals, added two prehistoric worlds, and turned a set of flashcards into four games with a progress tab behind them. More animals, sounds and games are on the way.
