User Reviews

Lumina is praised as a free, ad-free manual camera app that delivers strong control over focus, ISO, and shutter speed, with 48MP output and seamless saving to the photo library. Its lightweight, straightforward interface makes it a popular replacement for the stock camera. The main recurring drawbacks are limited zoom (desire for more zoom levels) and mixed reactions to the UI onboarding, with some users finding it easy and others finding it confusing at first.
Pros
  • Free and ad-free with no subscriptions or in-app purchases
  • Full manual controls (focus, ISO, shutter speed) plus exposure bracketing for creative control
  • Produces high-quality 48MP photos and preserves them in the normal photo library without extra steps
  • Lightweight, simple to use and free of bloat; intuitive interface for quick shooting
  • Often replacing the stock camera app for many users and offering easy access to manual settings
Cons
  • Limited zoom capability (no or few zoom levels beyond 3x); users want more zoom options
  • Mixed initial UI experience: some users find the interface intuitive, others find it confusing at first

Great manual camera app with a simple enough UI for casual photographers to use without being overwhelmed by the amount of options. Easy to understand and use, takes great quality photos and has easy and convenient options to download and transfer photo files. Going in with a singular Google search of certain settings did, I was able to quickly figure out the interface and take photos exactly how I needed. No overbloated or annoying UI like other apps I’ve tried.

This app has a simple interface, yet it has so many features. I really like the lighting, even with the automatic capture, that it provides over the stock iPhone app. Setting up the right speed and exposure takes a bit of practice. Highly recommended!
