User Reviews

Users praise the Sony Creators App for remote shooting and real-time viewing, which aids solo creators. However, frequent sign-in demands, unstable camera connectivity, privacy-friendly prompts for full library access, restrictive import/save options, and a slow, inconsistent UX significantly detract from the overall experience across models.
Pros
  • Remote control of the camera via the app, including DMF focus control, which is handy when you're away from the camera.
  • Live view on the phone and the ability to see shots remotely; this boosts flexibility for solo creators.
  • App supports firmware/software updates for compatible Sony cameras, helping keep devices up to date.
  • Overall value for users who rely on remote shooting to enhance their shooting workflows.
Cons
  • Frequent sign-in prompts and session expiry that require you to log in repeatedly.
  • Unstable connectivity with cameras, leading to freezes, lag, and unreliable transfers.
  • Repeated prompts to grant full access to the entire photo library, even when Limited access is selected, raising privacy concerns.
  • Limited import/download options, such as no selective photo import and no straightforward save to Photos or Lightroom (differential downloads only).
  • Marketing notifications and a generally clunky, slow UX across various camera models.

It’s the best app we have but it has a long way to go for a seamless experience

I’m writing this review because I have both the A1 II & A7v cameras. Both perfect cameras. And I have not been able to connect to this stupid app. I’ve tried multiple times and tried troubleshooting it with Sony experts and still no connection. How do you have beautiful cameras with non-working apps?

I'm unable to connect the camera to my phone. I'm trying to love this I really want to but this may be worse than imaging edge. In the creators app I have the option to connect to a camera and then transfer but then it tells me to launch the creator app (so I do) then "connect to new phone" then it just takes me back to the same screen in a loop
