User Reviews

ColorStream+ repeatedly suffers from unstable connectivity, frequent app crashes, and unreliable timer features, with little software maintenance to fix issues. While the hardware is touted as durable and the concept appealing, the app’s reliability and feature execution hinder a smooth user experience. Key frustrations include Bluetooth pairing drops, crashes, limited timer options, and outdated software. Overall, the user sentiment is that the promise is strong but the execution is failing.
Pros
  • Promising concept for app-controlled lighting with potential for customization.
  • Durable lights that seem to last across seasons.
  • When the connection works, the experience can be satisfactory.
Cons
  • Unreliable Bluetooth connectivity with frequent dropouts and difficult pairing, even when near the lights.
  • Frequent app crashes and instability; the app often fails to load or reflect the lights’ actual settings.
  • Timer/scheduling features are buggy or limited, often turning on in the wrong mode or not stopping at the set time.
  • Poor ongoing maintenance and updates; reports of no updates for years and features like Tree not functioning.
  • Cumbersome setup requiring reinstalling the app to connect, and inconsistent remembering of previous settings.

The timer options are extremely limited and the connection to the lights takes more steps than it should. It has a lot of potential but unless you want flashing lights with basic colors the timer setting won’t work for you

Great idea and the lights are durable from one season to the next, but the connection to control the lights from a cell phone is weak and impractical. The software version needs to be updated with better color options as the current options are limited (unless you are into tacky color modes). Out of all the color modes, there are really only 2-3 that would’t fall under an ordinance violation for obnoxious combinations. If the software update could include more practical options, and the cell phone control signal was more than ten feet from the unit, i would have given 5 stars and a raving review. Unfortunately these lights are stuck in their original 1.6 version over the 3 years that i have owned them.

Reinstall app every time you try to connect. 1. Enable Bluetooth. 2. Reinstall app. 3. Open app and swipe down and wait for light to show up. 4. Select it.
