User Reviews

Growing Up: Life of the ’90s is praised for its branching stories, deep romance options, and nostalgic 90s vibe with strong art and music, offering high replayability. However, players want more content and post‑high‑school life options, better parental interactions, and broader customization. Technical issues like freezes and long loads also detract from experience. Overall, it’s addictive and well-crafted, but would benefit from more storylines, stability improvements, and richer personalization.
Pros
  • Rich, branching storylines with many endings, enabling high replayability.
  • Deep, varied relationships and romance options with multiple character choices.
  • Strong art style and soundtrack that suit the nostalgic 90s life-sim vibe.
  • Immersive life-simulation feel where choices meaningfully affect outcomes.
  • Single-purchase model with no additional payments after buying the game.
Cons
  • Content feels limited or repetitive; players want more stories and life paths beyond the current branches.
  • Endgame content ends at graduation; desires to continue to college, sports, scholarships, and other post-high school life options.
  • Technical stability issues (freezes after updates, long loading times, save/load problems) affecting play sessions.
  • Parental interactions are limited and mostly task-driven; lack of deeper dialogue with parents.
  • Requests for more customization and representation (pronouns, sexuality options, more partners, pets, clothing, and diverse character options).

The mechanics are difficult, there’s no clear path for careers. My biggest issue is actually with the characters. They feel stale, with most of them having only one or two traits. They’re also all exactly the same every life, so if you have Bobbie in one life, you can have the exact same one next life… looking the exact same. I would at least like actually random character looks side characters!

I have had this game for a while now awaiting updates to things to do new storylines new careers. Please update the app and add more things to do. It’s a great app. Please do the same with Chinese parents. Both are great games

I’m in love with the number of possibilities in this game but I wish there were more options for parent interaction, all of it’s the same
