Overview

Features & Capabilities

WebWatch is a privacy-focused website monitoring app that helps you stay informed about important page changes without constantly checking websites yourself. Track job boards, price pages, event announcements, blogs, local businesses, and more.

The app uses Background App Refresh for reliable, battery-conscious monitoring and sends smart notifications when meaningful updates occur. Home Screen widgets display website statuses and let you run manual checks quickly, while Shortcuts integration supports automations, scheduled routines, and connections with other apps.

Setup is simple: add your websites, enable Background App Refresh, and let WebWatch monitor them in the background. Your data remains on your device, with no unnecessary accounts or external tracking required.

User Reviews

Users broadly praise WebWatch for being easy to use, lightweight, and effective at monitoring websites for restocks, deals, and event updates. They value its persistent, background monitoring and reliable basic alerts, and several reviewers note its usefulness for tracking sales or tickets. However, common drawbacks include unreliable or delayed notifications, frequent need to manually refresh to detect changes, a lack of real-time/seconds-level updates, and UX limitations such as confusing titles for watched pages and unclear check frequency. Overall, it's solid but with room for more reliable alerts and clearer management.
Pros
  • Simple and easy to use
  • All-the-time monitoring with timely notifications
  • Effective for tracking restocks, sales, and event updates
  • Works as advertised / does what you need
  • Lightweight and runs in the background
Cons
  • Notifications can be unreliable or missing; sometimes you must refresh to see changes
  • Alerts are not real-time; delays can be minutes and seconds would be better
  • No automatic page checking; manual reload required to detect changes
  • Difficulty distinguishing watched pages when titles are the same; need to edit titles or differentiate
  • Lack of visibility into how often the app checks for updates / frequency

No option to filter or customize anything, just a generic detail bar that doesn't let you pick parts to filter. The developer’s response was: “Use the ‘…’ button beside a section to ignore the whole section. Ignored parts won’t appear in future updates.” He was technically right, the ignored “…” section does not appear in future updates. However, how useful is that when the entire freaking page is treated as a single section under the “…” menu? Terrible design, made worse by the developer’s poor response and lack of understanding of the actual issue.

Fantastic app! It’s an easy way to keep track of websites where items are out of stock and are in high demand. You’ll be the first to know when it’s back. You won’t miss your window ever again.
