Trek Central connects with your Trek eBike to customize motor behavior, track rides with auto-start, and export ride data to Strava or Komoot. Use the app to adjust how the assist feels (Max Power, Assist Factor, Pedal Response) for YOUR ride, and tailor it to your terrain.

Real-time range calculations show how far you can go in each mode, updated as you change assist settings. Range Cloud maps help you plan destinations, while navigation features keep you on course. Trek Central also offers suspension setup recommendations, tire pressure guidance, and sensor integration (Quarq TyreWiz, RockShox AirWiz) with quick pairing. Note: The app currently works with Trek eBikes powered by TQ or Hyena motors.

Users praise Trek Central for motor tuning, mapping, and telemetry, but reliability is a major issue. Frequent disconnects, crashes, and weak Apple ecosystem integration undermine the experience. Support/documentation can be slow or unavailable, and end-user firmware updates aren’t always possible. Stabilizing connectivity, improving stability, and enabling easier firmware updates would align the app with its powerful feature set.

Pros

In-depth motor tuning and customization controls in-app, enabling range-focused or high-power settings for hills.
Map view is reliable and user-friendly for navigation (pinch/rotate; clear location cues).
Rich telemetry data during rides (battery level, speed, distance, and power).
MTB-focused design and overall usability for trail riding.

Cons

Frequent connectivity issues and pairing failures with bikes, leading to drops and unreliable operation.
App crashes or stalls, especially when accessing ride history or during startup loops.
Poor Apple ecosystem integration (no Apple Watch heart-rate support, no export to Apple Health).
Limited or slow support/resources (dead links, slow responses, few docs).
Firmware updates for certain motors require dealer/shop visits.

Recent reviews

This app is a pretty basic activity tracker but it doesn't even do that well. The "pause ride" doesn't work. When you go to resume your ride the app has lost connection to the bike and you have to reboot the app to reconnect, which either saves or discards the previous portion of your ride. Don't bother with this app, just use Strava!

Trek could have taken the easy route and actually made an app that worked and measured the metrics on the screen accurately but they made the brilliant decision to make the app so unusable that you decide to never use it. Put the phone down. Ride the bike. Brilliant. Solid work trek.

Does a lot in one app, but the best part is being able to customize in great detail how my electric motor works, so I can turn it right down for long range and a slight boost, all the way up to the 300W juggernaut for steep hills. The map while riding works well, easy to pinch and rotate. And the database of rides is helpful. Thanks Trek for fixing all the bugs over the last few months.
