User Reviews

Reviewers consistently praise Vimcal’s speed, powerful scheduling features (Find a Time, Time Travel, availability slots, color tagging), and a clean UI with helpful keyboard shortcuts. Recurrent drawbacks include stability bugs, sign-in/account flow problems, widget reliability, broken booking links, and missing calendar integrations like iCloud/iCal. Overall Vimcal is a fast, feature-rich calendar that excels at scheduling flow but struggles with consistency and some integrations.
Pros
  • Fast, responsive scheduling that saves time by reducing back-and-forth.
  • Powerful scheduling features (Find a Time, Time Travel across time zones, availability slots, color tagging).
  • Clean, intuitive user interface that’s easy to use daily.
  • Strong Google Calendar integration keeps events in sync.
  • Keyboard shortcuts enhance speed and productivity on desktop and mobile.
Cons
  • Stability and reliability issues (crashes, bugs, and occasional data deletions).
  • Sign-in/account selection problems (Google sign-in defaults to a work account with no easy profile switch).
  • Widget reliability problems (the widget can fail to show current meetings or update properly).
  • Booking/availability issues (broken booking links and trouble booking resources).
  • Calendar integration gaps (no iCloud/iCal support for broader family or cross-calendar use).

Vimcal is a solid calendar with few downsides. That said, innovation with the product slowed to the near standstill that it’s at now around 2 years ago. Since then the app has seen surprisingly few updates that are not “performance updates.” If Vimcal’s cost were less than what it is, this would be acceptable. However, Vimcal should be innovating in some way, given how the world has changed around the calendar product in the last 2 years and their premium price point.

Couldn’t possibly have imagined how good this calendar app would be. The version on the computer is better than the iOS app but it’s still pretty great here. If you are a heavy calendar user, especially with multiple calendars across multiple services, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.
