Features & Capabilities

Boxville blends an animated film with a puzzle game in a hand-drawn world where speechless cans live in a city of boxes. Players draw doodles on cardboard to tell stories, explore at their own pace, and enjoy bespoke music and visuals designed to reduce anxiety and stress.

As Blue Can searches for a friend after earthquakes, the game offers tens of logic puzzles and environmental quests woven into the story. Play solo to soak in the atmosphere or invite a friend or family member for cooperative challenges, using wordless cartoon speech bubbles to communicate.

User Reviews

Boxville dazzles with stunning visuals, creative puzzles, and a relaxing, wordless story with charming characters. However, it is plagued by recurring bugs and freezes, lacks in-game hints which pushes players toward external walkthroughs, and has slow pacing with clunky navigation. The game also feels short for its price. If these issues are addressed, Boxville could become a standout puzzle/adventure title on iOS.
Pros
  • Beautiful, unique art and animation that pull you into Boxville's world.
  • Engaging puzzles that are challenging yet fair and well designed.
  • Relaxing, non-verbal storytelling with soothing music.
  • Charming, endearing characters and heartwarming moments.
Cons
  • Frequent bugs, freezes, and glitches that block progress or prevent the game from opening.
  • Puzzles are often opaque and require external walkthroughs due to lack of hints or guidance.
  • Slow pacing and clunky movement with limited navigation and occasional UI/input quirks (e.g., disappearing inventory).
  • Short length; finishes faster than many players expect or desire.
Recent reviews
As others have said, it is reminiscent of Machinarium, one of my favorite games. The art is beautiful, the characters are charming, the puzzles are just right, and the story is compelling. This is a calming, non-violent, low stress game that encourages you to notice the world and the characters rather than rush from puzzle to puzzle. It’d be a great family game to play with young kids. The music is also spot on. I liked helping the other characters and defeating the bullies, and the surprise part of the ending is delightful.
