I’ve tried many coffee subscriptions in the past from roasters directly, trade, beanbox and others but it was always hard to get new interesting coffees that I loved. I just got my first two yesterday and I love both of them! Can’t wait for the next ones next month.

In 2005, I taught English in a small coffee farming region in Costa Rica. It transformed how I thought about food systems and coffee. I returned to the states and spent the next five years working in sustainable agriculture. It became clear to me that the money I spent on food and coffee was an investment, a vote for the ecosystem I wanted to see thrive. I feel fortunate to have built meaningful relationships with farmers in my region. It adds depth and delight to my experience of food. Coffee needs this connection too. A cup of coffee is like a portal, an intimate link between people who live in very different parts of the world. Thanks to Siip, I’m discovering roasters that are sourcing coffee from the farmers in the village where I volunteered! I’m also discovering farmers in regions that produce coffees that match to my taste, and I’m learning about the people at origin who make my morning ritual possible. It’s beautiful and fun.
