User Reviews

BibleRef is praised for being easy to use, free, and offering in-depth verse-level commentaries and multiple translations, making Bible study easier and more insightful. However, users repeatedly note content gaps with many books shown as Coming Soon, especially in the Old Testament, and a recent update that disrupted navigation. They also request features like highlighting, bookmarking, and font options. Overall, it’s a valuable, fast reference that would improve with fuller content and added study features.
Pros
  • Easy to navigate and user-friendly interface.
  • Rich verse-by-verse commentaries with book/chapter/verse summaries.
  • Ability to view multiple translations side-by-side in the same view.
  • Free to use with no hidden fees or paid content.
  • Widely praised as a helpful resource that enhances Bible study.
Cons
  • Content is incomplete with many books labeled Coming Soon (notably the Old Testament).
  • A recent update reportedly disrupted navigation and usability.
  • Missing study features like highlighting, bookmarking, and font customization.

I’ve had this app for quite awhile and what is amazing is that there are many books of the Bible where both commentary and context are blank with the exception of “Coming Soon”. I decided to look at the ratings to see if there might be others who notice the lack of completion. There are, a lot. A lot. And, it goes back for years. YEARS. How can you release an underdeveloped app and then fail to complete it after several years? I’ll use ChatGPT from now on.

I’m a fan of this application. I particularly like the summary and commentary aspects of it. Layout is logical, too.
