TB Sibalance - the Swiss Army knife de-esser AUv3 plug-in that your vocals deserve

TB Sibalance is the perfect AUv3 plugin to remove excess sibilance and harshness from vocals, podcasts and mix busses. It uses advanced perceptual loudness and timbre models to detect excess sibilance.

Reduction of excess sibilance is done by spectral processing, resulting in a cleaner and more transparent result compared to conventional de-essers.

TB Sibalance provides clear visual feedback to guide your tuning decisions. See what frequencies and sections of your audio signal are modified at the blink of an eye so you can make adjustments quickly and confidently. No more guesswork!

TB Sibalance has a listening mode to quickly detect what frequencies are responsible for excessive sibilance, and can process mid or side only to provide even more control to removing harshness from vocals, speech recordings, podcasts or even full mixes.

User Reviews

I’ve been on a micro-quest to find a good de-esser on iOS. It’s a surprisingly sparse category on the App Store. But this one is a gem. I don’t get the reviews— it’s decidedly better than esspresso (both visually and sonically - esspresso is downright janky), and a fair bit better than the techivation one (TB is much better visually, marginally better sonically). I can’t compare it to fabfilter because I haven’t shelled out for that yet. The TB one is a more subtle tool - I have actually been using two instances of it, one after another. I do a strong first pass with the “spectral” filter, then a second, much lighter pass with the more traditional “subband.” If I had just one ess-less wish, it would be that I could use both filters in this app, in sequence one after another, with one instance of the plugin. The spectral can’t get strong enough for my whistlin’ gap teeth on its own, but the subband is too blunt on its own, turned up to where I need it. It would be nice to have them work together by design, but the two separate instances works fine enough, and sounds very natural. The only other plugin that comes close is the native de-esser in Logic, but the two pass approach with this one sounds just a bit better. Part of that is the excellent visuals - I feel like I know exactly what I’m doing to the signal with this one. TB makes great apps - their eq and reverb are standbys on my signal chains. This app is another really useful, visually helpful tool. Don’t mind the ratings here - this one is the stuff.

I use garageband to produce tracks, and I love my results, but with my Behringer C-1 microphone (definitely a treble focused mic) I get a lot of hard, treble-y S sounds, and even harsh sounds on Ds and Fs. This plugin helped that problem tremendously. I can’t recommend it enough! Worth the couple bucks for sure!
