User Reviews

Reviews praise HookBook for its clean design and comprehensive health-tracking tools (PrEP/DoxyPEP, testing, reminders) and strong data organization (multiple partners, archives, tags, year-in-review). The biggest drawbacks are its subscription-only pricing (no one-time purchase) and several requested features not yet implemented (future entries, meet-location field, total partner count, map testing dates). Overall, the free version is surprisingly capable, with potential value in upgrading.
Pros
  • Clean, intuitive UI that makes tracking easy.
  • Robust health-tracking features: PrEP/DoxyPEP tracking, testing results, medication reminders, and color-coded protection.
  • Powerful data organization: multiple partners per entry, archiving/favorites, ability to attach partners to a single activity, tags and notes, and year-in-review reports.
  • Useful for sexual health awareness and accountability, particularly for gay/MSM communities.
  • Free version provides substantial functionality, with valuable extras available in paid upgrade.
Cons
  • Pricing model relies on subscription (monthly/yearly) with no lifetime option, and the Plus tier is pricey.
  • Core features feel gated behind the paywall; some users want more functionality in the free tier.
  • Missing/desired features: scheduling future entries, separate field for where you met, and easier visibility of total partner count; map of testing dates not shown.

This app seems perfect so far. It’s exactly what I had hoped for. I didn’t need Proof tracker, only something to record hookups. Being in the LS, this is super helpful to keep up with partners.

Sometimes you forget how bad a hookup is. This has helped me repeat mistakes.

I don’t usually write a review on apps, but this app particularly gives so much for the free version that I may consider investing this year and actually paying for the paid version. The things I like about this app is, it’s very clean and concise about how it helps keep track of all my partners and the reminders to take my medication. It’s important for all of us out there Exploring to take care of our health and have a app that tracks when we take it and what types that we take is so important. Also, like the other features that most people don’t know about like the keyboard for saved phrases. Most apps nowadays charge you to have that and so having this little work around, just a chefs kiss. Happy exploring and enjoy your Adventures.
