3D modeling: Design my model

Sculpt & sketch digital art

Overview

Features & Capabilities

3D Modeling: Design My Model lets you design 3D content on the go using gestures on iPhone or iPad. No need for an Apple Pencil, but you can use one if you want. It delivers a fast, mobile workflow with gesture-based controls for moving, rotating, and scaling with multi-select for vertices, edges, faces, and objects.

It includes comprehensive tools across categories: vertex, edge, and face editing; sculpting with brushes; texture painting with UV editor; and lighting/display options. You’ll find 20 materials, orthographic camera, precise value inputs, and export/import support for OBJ files. Each tool also comes with a video tutorial to help you learn quickly.

User Reviews

Users praise the app for being easy to use, beginner-friendly, and capable of producing a wide range of models with free core features. However, repeatedly mentioned drawbacks are stability issues and data loss, a learning curve with limited guidance, and premium gating that blocks essential features and can be costly. Additional bugs include phantom points after merge/separate and texture glitches on copied models. Overall, it’s approachable and powerful, but reliability and pricing are the main concerns.
Pros
  • Easy to use and beginner-friendly; many reviews describe it as straightforward.
  • Core features are free or not dependent on premium; users appreciate not having to pay for basic modeling.
  • Strong modeling potential and capability to create a variety of models.
  • Good for starters and hobbyists; accessible entry point for creating 3D models.
Cons
  • Frequent stability issues and data loss (crashes, unsaved work, models disappearing).
  • Premium gating of essential features (e.g., OBJ import/export) and perceived high cost.
  • Onboarding is steep with limited guidance on tools and workflow.
  • Bugs and glitches in operations (phantom points after merging/separating; texture issues when duplicating).

I was attempting to create an extremely specific object out of a bunch of rings for blueprint making purposes, and trying to make smaller rings that would go around the bigger one like the copper wire coils inside an inductor or transformer. I forgot the name of the inductor type I was using, but basically it’s the same type of inductor as the electromagnet in Iron Man’s chest from the MCU. My model is supposed to ionize the particles within the ring to create a high voltage circuit capable of creating a controlled environment that can safely produce plasma. Only problem was I tried to duplicate it, and the bounding boxes went inside each other after duplicating, and I wasn’t able to effectively duplicate it because I couldn’t move the objects outside of one another’s bounding boxes. Because it doesn’t let you move objects inside of each other, it became very difficult to achieve my goal. I was unable to find a toggle that allows you to move objects inside another bounding box. I would appreciate if you could implement a feature that would allow me to achieve something like this. I also had to use the cut tool and scale tool to make the coils because I couldn’t just move a smaller ring around the bigger ring. Other than that, I would recommend this app for people who wish to make 3D images, because I can see it has a lot of potential for modeling purposes. Making 3D blueprints on the other hand, I have found to be a little more difficult if you’re going for an extremely specific object with high detail.

Everything is great, but I really wish you can make the characters move, and you can create your own characters
