User Reviews

Lunatask is praised as a comprehensive, privacy-focused productivity suite with tasks, notes, journaling, and habit/mood tracking, organized by Areas and Goals. It shines on cross-device use, flexible workflows, and strong security, plus solid value in the free version. Reported drawbacks center on onboarding/documentation challenges and intermittent iOS reliability issues, with some users noting gaps in advanced filtering and cross-Area pinning. Overall, many users find it highly capable and worth the investment, especially for ADHD-friendly and all-in-one life planning.
Pros
  • All-in-one system: Lunatask combines tasks, notes, journaling, habit tracking, mood tracking, and a relationship tracker, all organized around Areas of Life and Goals.
  • Strong privacy: end-to-end encryption and data stored securely.
  • Cross-platform syncing: seamless use across iPhone, Mac, and Linux with easy syncing between devices.
  • Flexible workflows and prioritization: Eisenhower Matrix, Do Now/Do Later, and multiple workflows with backlinks and Markdown notes.
  • Generous value: usable free version, lifetime option, and responsive development with good documentation and ongoing improvement.
Cons
  • Onboarding and documentation can be confusing or incomplete, making it hard to get started and to test features without paying.
  • iOS app reliability and UI issues: some reviews report unresponsive taps, broken UI elements, and other reliability problems on iPhone/iOS.
  • Some advanced features and cross-Area capabilities feel lacking or imperfect (e.g., filtering/findability and cross-Area pinning) for users who expect deeper control.

I have been using this app for a few years after I bought the lifetime subscription. I use it on Linux, Mac and iOS to organize my things to do across different areas of life. It has notes, relationship tracker, habit tracker, and a bunch of little details that make it very customizable (for instance, I add to-dos for movies to watch by visiting the iamb page, or something similar, and clicking on a ,Firefox bookmarklet linked to my “movies” area of life). On top of that, the developer is very responsive and seems very invested in making this software better. I’m sure I’ll keep using it for as long as I have things to do.
