Grimlight is visually stunning with a rich fairy-tale theme and engaging story, plus a large cast and deep multi-system gameplay. It is hampered by crashes and sign-in/progress issues, a harsh gacha economy, grindy progression, and uneven developer support, which dilute the otherwise strong core experience.

Pros

Stunning art/graphics with detailed character designs.
Engaging story with a charming fairy-tale-themed world.
Deep, varied gameplay with multiple systems (gear, skill trees, etc.) and solid battle mechanics.
Generous early-game rewards and a large roster of characters to collect.

Cons

Frequent crashes and login/account persistence issues (sign-in failures, progress not saved).
Unfavorable gacha system: very low pity, no spark, no carryover pity, and heavy duplicates.
Grindy progression and resource bottlenecks (XP caps, energy/keys) that slow long-term play and push toward paying.
Limited developer support and sparse updates/communication.
UI/UX is unclear and in-app help is lacking.

Recent reviews

Regardless of what I do, I'm incapable of getting past the main menu. After looking it up, I see there's more than a few people with this problem, but it was never actually addressed and updates for this game seem to have stopped entirely, so it now seems as if this issue will perpetuate indefinitely. Perhaps others will have better luck if they decide to try this game out, but I'm incapable of even starting it.

I’m a big fan of this game and its story but I do have a major issue with how the game doesn’t save progress. I’ll spend hours playing the game and get new characters only to log in the next day to find them gone. It’s very disheartening and makes finding the motivation to play more of the game hard to come by. I’d really appreciate it if the devs could fix this issue because other than that it really is a great game! The characters, art, story, and gameplay are truly amazing but this issue really does affect the player experience.
