User Reviews

Overall, users find it can read PDFs/books aloud with some voice variety and useful customization, but widespread issues—robotic voices, frequent playback bugs, premium upgrade disappointments, a non-intuitive UI, and an outdated feel—overshadow the positives. Some still rate it as a decent free option, but reliability and monetization concerns dominate the feedback.
Pros
  • Free version is usable and offers configurable speed, voice, and pitch.
  • Wide variety of voices and, for some users, voices are clear enough to read PDFs/books aloud.
  • Basic reading functionality works well for PDFs/books and is considered among the better options in its space by some reviewers.
  • Users can tailor voice settings (speed, voice, pitch) to their preference.
Cons
  • Voices are repeatedly described as robotic, artificial, and hard to understand.
  • Playback is frequently buggy or unstable (crashes, stops, unresponsive controls).
  • Premium upgrades do not consistently improve the experience and can be costly or disappointing.
  • The app UI is not intuitive and lacks guidance or tutorials.
  • The app appears outdated with little or no recent updates.

Why on earth did you guys get rid of Nicky, the only listenable free voice? I don’t understand. Will no longer be using this app. I’m very disappointed. All the voice reader apps have been getting rid of Nicky’s voice when it’s the only decent free one. I only used this app because it had Nicky, unlike the others. Please bring Nicky back.

It’s actually so bad it’s hilarious. Yeah it’s free, but with the most robotic voices I’ve heard from ANY tts. The PRO upgrade is a waste of money because all it successfully does is remove ads. Every voice “unlocked” with PRO is so bad that this app single-handedly fixed my ADHD for class and motivated me to read my textbook.
