User Reviews

GOES is valued as a practical outdoor safety companion, offering field-ready medical guidance, a user-friendly interface, and helpful weather risk insights that give hikers and campers confidence. Users report it can be life-saving in emergencies and broadly useful for planning. However, recurring concerns center on pricing and access barriers (paywalls and billing glitches), questions about content quality and accuracy, privacy/data-use worries, and the perception that some essential or offline content is restricted to paying subscribers.
Pros
  • Practical, step-by-step wilderness medical guidance and injury assessment usable in emergencies.
  • User-friendly interface and easy navigation for quick access to information.
  • Helpful weather forecasts with risk context that aids outdoor planning.
  • Provides peace of mind and a sense of having medical guidance in the field.
  • Broad safety content (injuries, hazards, outdoor safety) in one app.
Cons
  • Pricing and access barriers: features locked behind a subscription with billing glitches and confusing status.
  • Questions about content quality and accuracy, with some reviewers calling it AI-generated or outdated.
  • Privacy and data-use concerns, including location tracking and potential data sharing.
  • Critical safety content, like CPR instructions, often behind paywalls or online-only, limiting offline usefulness.
  • Support responsiveness issues in at least some cases.

I like the app and the information provided is great. Only problem is the “Question of the Day” is buggy at times. I lost a few streaks because it states it needs internet access. The app has access to WiFi and cellular networks. I lost my streak several times. Overall, a great app for the information provided.

There is something wrong with this app on many levels. The built-in medical advice is surprisingly limited. For example, look up bug bites and you'll find it very lacking. No info on chiggers for example, a common concern for those spending a lot of time outdoors. Overall, it is a pretty app but has very limited useful medical information. The app claims it does not collect any data that is tied to the user. However, their privacy policy seems to say otherwise. The app has features that only work if you provide precise location tracking. I do not have confidence that this location data isn't stored and shared with third-party companies. A medical app like this should have a simple privacy policy -- that NO personal data is stored or used in any manner (outside of things like contacting support about app issues). The hazards info (bears, ticks, etc) seems compelling, but in my use of it I found it inaccurate and therefore sort of useless. There are many new articles that are online only. Why would anything in this app be online only? It is VERY likely that anyone who actually needs the info this app offers would be out of cell range. The bottom line is that the CONCEPT of this app is compelling, but the implementation is lacking.

A waste of money and time. Medical advice should be from real live experts not bots. What a scam and frankly a dangerous misleading app that could cause more harm than good.
